Launch of Women Alternative Photography Group
On 25 March 2023, Elizabeth Ransom launched her new research project and community Women Alternative Photography Group (WAPG). WAPG is a feminist research project celebrating women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, and gender-diverse artists from all backgrounds working with alternative photographic processes. WAPG aims to foster the development of new knowledge and research, promote and support marginalised groups, and create a community of like-minded people. The launch event took place online and included a presentation from Director and Founder of WAPG Elizabeth Ransom as well as two artist talks by Megan Ringrose and Gul Cevikoglu. Each month WAPG invites artists from around the globe to share insights into the concepts and creative process behind their photographic practice as part of the WAPG interview series. You can read the first three installments over on the WAPG website HERE. In addition to publishing interviews, WAPG aims to host online and in-person events to build community and share knowledge. WAPG also has an in-depth resource library of writing authored by women and non binary authors writing on the topic of alternative photographic processes. ` Learn more and sign up for a WAPG event or workshop on the WAPG website HERE
