Women Alternative Photography Group is a feminist research project celebrating women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, and gender-diverse artists from all backgrounds working with alternative photographic processes. Founded in March 2023 by artist and researcher Elizabeth Ransom, the Women Alternative Photography Group aims to foster the development of new knowledge and research, promote and support marginalised groups, and create a community of likeminded people.
Women Alternative Photography Group hosts a variety of events and opportunities to share new knowledge on those using alternative photographic processes including:
- Quarterly online meet ups where the WAPG community comes together to share their practice in a safe environment
- Monthly interviews with artists using a variety of alternative photographic techniques
- In person events such as our recent WAPG Seminar & Private View
- Instagram takeovers showcasing international artists and their inspiring practice
In the future we hope to expand further and exhibit works by the WAPG community and continue research on these exciting processes.
